World Cup 2014 Odds
With the draw for the 2014 World Cup set to take place this weekend, the world’s top teams will be interested to see who they are going to be paired against. While bookmakers are likely to adjust their predictions a little bit after the draw, there is already a firm idea of who is going to be among the top teams.
Brazil are most bookmakers out right favorites, and that is not a surprise given the tournament is taking place in their back yard. The fact that they have World Cup winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in charge also helps matters, and their form in last summer’s Confederations Cup proved a lot of the doubters wrong. Brazil are going to take some beating, especially if the likes of Neymar, Hulk, Oscar, and Lucas Moura are in good form. There is also an outside chance that Kaka and Ronaldinho could make their final 23 man squad.
Germany, Argentina, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Columbia and England are the remaining seven teams that bookmakers expect to reach the quarter finals. There are also teams such as Uruguay, France and Portugal who will be a threat, and the nature of the draw will change a few of these predictions.
Germany and Spain are probably the closest threat to Brazil, with both teams having supremely qualified players in all positions. Spain are the defending European and World Cup champions, and will be looking to pull off a remarkable four-some of tournament wins. Fatigue is a factor for Spain, especially for the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, but their brand of possession football will take some beating.
The Germans are always a threat at a tournament, and their team is bustling full of quality. Mesut Ozil, Illkay Gundogan, Marco Reus, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philip Lahm are players who would get into any team on the planet.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Neymar are the top four favorites to finish as the top scorer in the tournament. The likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, and Radamel Falcao are going to be outside contenders as well. Spain’s newest star, Diego Costa, is also a threat, but it is unclear whether he will be a prominent member of their team.
